Are you on a limited budget, riding solo or can't gather enough friends to book a private tour—but still dream of exciting Pyrenees cycling? If so, you’ll love this tour that combines my popular
"Best of the Pyrenees" tour with an additional bonus day to spend enjoying the ascent of the Tourmalet Giant!
The Giant of Tourmalet is a large statue honoring the first professional cyclist to climb Tourmalet and win the first Tour de France featuring the Pyrenees in 1910. Set atop the pass, it's the landmark that all cyclists photograph.
The Giant spends its winters in the town of Bagneres, but each year on the first Saturday in June, it comes out of hibernation to return to the top of Tourmalet. The ascent is always a festive day when cyclists from the entire region accompany the statue as it slowly makes its way to the top. It's a huge party: a live band follows along and specialty foods and wines are served to the cyclists as they ascend. This is a unique chance to experience Tourmalet the way the locals do—and this year five time Tour de France winner Bernard Hinault will be there to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the TDF in the Pyrenees.
Contact me to reserve your opportunity to celebrate this special year with your choice of a 5- or 8-day tour
starting at only € 1,297.
