Unique & Custom Pyrenees Bicycle Tours!

Cycling with Native Planet Adventures - FAQ

Why are your tours best?

Lack of flexibility is the hallmark of standard tours: that is why some may be so cheap. There are no personal routes or route changes, you have to stick with the others on your tour—no matter who or how they are—and you simply aren't "allowed" to go at your own pace and discover the region on your own.

My tours are the complete opposite. You ride only by yourself or with the friends you bring. You choose all your climbs. You start and stop when you want but you'll have all the information needed and a briefing on your chosen route on a daily basis. You decide whether you want the convenience of a support vehicle or if you'd prefer to save money and ride like a local. With my private guide services, the details of your dream cycling vacation are where they belong: in your hands.

What fitness level do I need to ride the Pyrenees?

You don't need to be a strong climber to enjoy riding in the Pyrenees: anyone who can ride 50 miles and sustain a speed of 14 mph on the flat for 3 or 4 hours can do it. Of course, the better trained you are the more you can do, but I'll custom design each day's ride for you and help you accomplish your climbing goals. Tourmalet and other famous mountain climbs of the Tour de France are always possibilities, but there are also lots of gorgeous rides on small, low-traffic roads in the lower Pyrenees valleys. There is definitely something for everyone!

How fast will we ride?

I guide at a low-moderate to a brisk-strenuous pace but everyone in your group will be encouraged to climb at his or her own pace and I'll spend time with each one of you. We'll all regroup on top of the big passes so we can stop, stretch, and enjoy the view before going on. Racers are always welcome to set course records, but they will probably be on their own well ahead of the group.
