July 13: After I
welcome you to your hotel, you'll climb two spectacular mountain passes of
the Tour de France, Col du Soulor and Col d'Aubisque. These are among the
most popular mountain passes in France, a well deserved fame. From Day 1,
you'll experience Pyrenees' grand mountain vistas.
-
July 14: You'll
climb the famous ascent of Luz-Ardiden to watch the climbers fight toward
the finish of Stage 12. The last time Luz-Ardiden hosted the tour was in
2003, when Lance Armstrong crashed and then dropped Jan Ullrich and Iban
Mayo to win the stage. After climbing Hourquette-d'Ancizan and Tourmalet, it will be a spectacular battle between the
favorites.
-
July 15: The city
of Lourdes, one of the world's most famous pilgrimage and tourist
destinations, will be hosting the finish of Stage 13. In the morning you will first climb the monumental
Hautacam, where in 1996 Bjarn Riss won with great panache. It is also there
that in 2000, Lance Armstrong crushed Jan Ullrich and Marco Pantani. You'll
discover whey Hautacam is considered one of the greatest climbs of the Tour
de France. In the afternoon you'll have time to visit the monuments of
Lourdes before witnessing what should be an exciting finish.
-
July 16: Tourmalet
is the Giant of the Pyrenees. All cyclists should at least climb it once in
a lifetime. You'll climb Tourmalet from it's most interesting side and
return via small remote mountain roads offering spectacular views of the
entire mountain range. This will be a memorable experience.
-
July 17: Today we'll leave the crowds behind to capture the real essence of the Pyrenees on
one of my absolute favorite climbs and then celebrate the entire unforgettable experience on your last night in town.
* Each day will feature at least one major and
challenging mountain climb. You can ride at your own pace and we'll have a support vehicle
to assist you, so you can bail out at any time if you need to.
All of this for just
€ 1,686 Euro per person? Unbelievable!
