Stages 16 and 17 of the 2010 Tour de France both climbed Tourmalet, though from opposite sides.
I recommend them for your Special Tour de France Stages tour:
- 2010 Tour de France - Stage 16 - Bagneres-de-Luchon — Pau
- 2010 Tour de France - Stage 17 - Pau — Col du Tourmalet
Many other legendary Pyrenees climbs are also among the greatest historical stages of the TDF, so I'll customize the balance of your
six cycling days to include the absolute best Pyrenees ascents. If you're up for a very challenging week, you can even choose more TDF stages
from my list of the
"best of the best". But here is my recommended itinerary:
- Day 1: Local scenic climbs in the foothill of the Pyrenees
- Day 2: 2007 Tour de France - Stage 14 - Mountain
part: Port de Paihleres and Plateau de Bielle
- Day 3: 2010 Tour de France - Stage 15 - Portet d'Aspet, Col d'Ares
and Port de Bales
- Day 4: Your choice: Col du Portillon or SuperBagnere
- Day 5: 2010 Tour de France - Stage 16 - Aspin,
Tourmalet, Soulor & Aubisque
- Day 6: 2007 Tour de France - Stage 16 - First
half: Port de Larrau, and La Pierre St Martin
- Day 7: 2010 Tour de France - Stage 17 - Marie-Blanque,
Soulor, Tourmalet
- Day 8: Your choice: Luz-Ardiden, Hautacam, Port de
Boucharo, Troumouse, Couraduque...
