"Best Cycling Routes of the Pyrénées" FAQ
What Makes This Guidebook The Best?
The Best Cycling Routes And Climbs
I would never recommend a route that I don't love riding myself, and I'm a particularly demanding cyclist. If a route made it into this book, you can be sure it is worth the trip from the other side of the world! You'll see classics Tourmalet and Aubisque done in other guidebooks, but not like I do them: this book lists all the very best rides, many of them known only to a few select local people. The best cycling experience starts with the best cycling routes. This is what this guide delivers.
The Best Route Information
You're planning your dream cycling vacation, and you've selected the routes you want to ride. But do you really understand the challenge and difficulty of each route? Do you know how long it will take you to ride them? Do you have alternative routes to shorten or lengthen your ride depending on how you feel or changing weather conditions? Do you know the best places to find food, water and toilets along the way? Will you pass a few hundred feet from a must-see historical or natural sight without noticing it? Will the route description be good enough for you to follow it on a local map? Will you use metrics to match the local maps and road signs, or will you use statute miles to understand what the distance and elevation really means to you? This guidebook provides all of this and more.
The Best Supplemental Information
There should be more to a cycling holiday than just cycling. It may be your primary reason for visiting the French Pyrénées, but it would be a shame to miss the many facets of one of the richest regions of France, famous for its scenery and natural sights as well as for its history, culture and cuisine. And when you need a rest day from cycling, why not try one of the other numerous outdoor adventures possible in the Pyrénées. My website, accessible to owners of this book's Full Edition, features even more.
You will also receive all the free updates to the guidebook and supplemental website until the release of a completely new edition.
