SOULOR & AUBISQUE DESCRIPTION

Aubisque isn't just a legend of the Tour de France, it's a climb every cyclist should do at least once in a lifetime—preferably on a sunny day. Surrounded by verdant valleys and crowned with views of the entire Pyrenees with Pic de Ger and the Grand Gabizos in the foreground, it is breathtakingly lovely. The eastern approach from Argeles is steep until you reach pristine Val d'Azun, where it moderates briefly, allowing you to enjoy the views of the majestic mountains that loom ahead. The road steepens back to around 8% for the last kilometers to the top of Col du Soulor then continues, aerial and narrow, down a brief descent followed by a gentle climb that leads you to the top of Aubisque. The western climb from Larruns is even more scenic.
